Apparel maker JCR Garments to begin production

Sri Lanka's Board of Investment has given the go-ahead to JCR Garment Limited to begin production in the country.

The project, which is sponsored to the tune of US$265,000 by investors from Germany and Hong Kong, will make shirts and blouses for export to Central Europe, Switzerland and Australia.

The venture is expected to begin operations in October.

Mr Johannes Hille, director of JCR Garments, said the skill level of the Sri Lankan workforce, the quality of products, and the country's strategic location were behind the decision to locate there.
